CASIO PT-80 Piano Decent Sampler Instrument
The CASIO PT-80 Electric Keyboard
This synth was hiding away in my grandparents cupboard with a bunch of old board games for as long as i can remember. Now it has been passed down to me i've decided it's time to share its unique sound.
Released in 1984, the PT-80 was designed as an introductory learning tool for children. It features a simple monophonic synthesizer with eight distinct sounds, along with a separate chord synthesizer that supports major, minor, major 7th, and 7th chords. The PT-80 also offers a selection of beat loops with adjustable tempo. What sets it apart as a learning device is its ability to guide users through songs using ROM disks. When a disk is inserted, the synthesizer plays the song while lights above the keys flash, indicating which keys to press to play the melody.
The Full Project
This is part of a larger ongoing project surrounding the CASIO PT-80. I plan to release Decent Sampler Plugins for all of its presets as well as for the chords and beats. These will be paid products however i don't believe that these samples should be limited to those who are willing to pay so i will realise free/pay what you want sample packs alongside. Both options will have the same samples just one will require more setup. I recommend starting here if you want to put together the instrument yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxPRmD_RNCY&t=4s&ab_channel=DavidHilowitzMusic
